September 23, 2024, Prova Society, a leading development and humanitarian organization, successfully distributed livelihoods support and assistive devices to 200 persons with disabilities, as part of the Inclusive Development Initiatives: Bridging Gaps for Persons with Disabilities project. This initiative is generously supported by the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute of the Republic of Korea, through the Make the Right Real Fund Grant 2024.

The distribution ceremony was presided over by the Honorable Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Mst. Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury, Md. Kaushik Khan Social Service Officer, Coxs Bazar Upazil, Social Service Department of Bangladesh  along with participation from representatives of various humanitarian organizations

This initiative directly benefited 200 households, offering customized support to enhance economic opportunities and improve daily living for persons with disabilities. The distributed support included:

20 households receiving small grants aimed at fostering entrepreneurship.

110 households provided with sewing machines, empowering individuals capable of operating them to start or expand small businesses.

20 individuals equipped with mobile phone repair tool kits to create pathways for sustainable livelihoods.

50 persons with disabilities receiving assistive devices to enhance their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

In her remarks, Honorable UNO Mst. Nilufa Yasmin Chowdhury applauded the initiative for its inclusive approach and its focus on vulnerable households where persons with disabilities reside. She emphasized that such programs are essential for sustainable development and contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reducing Inequality, which seeks to ensure no one is left behind. She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute for their critical support and called upon other humanitarian organizations to implement similar initiatives aimed at fostering socio-economic empowerment for marginalized groups.

In closing, Mst. Chowdhury stressed the importance of continuing such inclusive efforts, highlighting that all participants in the program are extraordinary and deserving of sustained support.
