The proceedings of the case against BNP’s Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed is at the final stage in Shillong court.His wife Hasina Ahmed said’ the judgment will be pronounced soon. He is currently staying at a guest house in Shillong after being arrested for unauthorized infiltration in 2015. The senior leader of BNP is appearing before the local court regularly. The court has given embergo for returning to Bangladesh until the trial is over.The condition of Salahuddin Ahmed is better than before, said Hasina Ahmed.
On Sunday Hasina Ahmed said’ the next decision will be taken after Scrutinizing the verdict of the case. Salahuddin Ahmed had been arrested from Shilong’s Golf Club area on 12th May 2015. Before this incident, he was missing for a longtime. It was alleged by his family that the detective branch of police had arrested him from a house in uttara area on 10th March 2015. A case was lodged against Salahuddin Ahmed in a court on 10th July 2015.
During the blockade and strike called by the BNP in January 2014, most of the senior leaders including BNP’s Secretary General were arrested.He played a key role as a party’s spokesman.More than a month; Salauddin Ahmed was calling hartal-blockade programs from unknown places by sending statements and videos on behalf of BNP.
His wife Hasina Ahmed said, “Her husband is spending time alone at a guest house in Shilong. They celebrated last Eid ul azha together. Afterward she did not go to Shilong again.
But relatives are often going to see Salahuddin Ahmed, said Hasina Ahmed. ‘His health is better now. We visit him one after another.she added.
Hasina Ahmed said, “Salahuddin Ahmed’s case is underway in the lower court of Shilong. The proceedings of the case are almost finished. The result will be pronounced soon. The next decision will be taken depending on outcome.
There were massive participation of Salahuddin’s followers at Chakaria and Cox’sbazar while BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia went to give relief among the Rohingyas On 29th October this year. Salahuddin exchanged greetings with local activists using internet when Khaleda Zia on the way to Chittagong from Cox’s Bazar.
According to source, Salahuddin Ahmed was taking information regarding Khaleda’s visit to Cox’s Bazar through Hasina Ahmed from abroad.
BNP media wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan said, “The party leaders and activists are eagerly waiting for Salahuddin Ahmed. He will come back again.
