Army medical team for Rohingyas

Bangladesh government has decided to coordinate and strengthen for Rohingyas who took shelter to save their life.Now Army medical team is also working with local and foreign health officials.Government wants to bring medical facilities and distribution of relief under one stop service.

Civil surgeon of Chittagong,who came to perform additional duty in Coxsbazar on Rohingya issue,Azizur Rahman siddiqee said,we had a meeting today(saterday).Officials from Army medical core,Health department and representative from local and international NGOs were present on the occasion.We have taken decision to stop unorganized effort of Medical services across the Rohingya camps.We will work together incoordination with Army medical team .Chief of the Army medical core presided over the meeting.

Now Health services are being given from Cox’sbazar Sadar Hospital, Ukhia and Teknaf Upazilla health Complex, MSF and Al Din Hospital at large scale.

Furthermore, 27 camps under Ukhia and Teknaf Health Complex including 8 community clinics are giving medical services and medicine simultaneously.

On the other hand,15 development organizations including BRAC and Gonoshasto kendra are offering free medicine according to necessity.

Dr.Abdus Salam,Civil surgeon of Coxsbazar said,There are hundred thousands of children among the Rohingyas.Most of them are suffering from fever,malnutrition,pneumonia and many diseases.We are trying our best but it is not easy to provide adequate medical facilities to huge number of patients.

In average 250 Rohingyas are being given free treatment and medicine from each camp but people who are living in remote hilly areas are left out of health care.

In this situation,Bangladesh Army came forward to help civil adminitration to get rid of this problem.they are also coordinating collection and distribution of relief among the Rohingyas since 23rd September.
